Super-cali-fragilistic-expi-ali-docious!

You know my fetish for lists, right? It never ends. The worst is, every time I finish I list, I feel like adding more. Oh well. I can always make a List#2.

Childhood is a wonderful thing. So here goes..the things I believe, A Childhood is incomplete without:
(in no particular order)

*~ The harry potter series
Chocolate frogs and butterbeer. Kids complaining about studying the most interesting subjects that aren't known to mankind. Ah, I'd be a different person without J.K Rowling's contribution to my life.

*~Mary Poppins
Just a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down, and Julie Andrews helps just about anything look good.

*~Enid blyton
Naughty amelia jane, The faraway tree, The famous five and the secret seven,Mallory towers and more! Boarding school, adventures, and most important, FOOD, has never seemed as enticing. The mother of all kid happiness, in my opinion. My introduction to reading in any form.

*~The old Cartoon Network
Wacky races, Scooby Doo's all star laff-alympics, The lulu show..what happened to all of this? Today's cartoons equal weirdness. I am so glad that I was born, when I was born.

*~Walt Disney
Oh, the disney movies that made me laugh and made me cry. The music that prevented me from being tone deaf. The circle of life that brought me up. Hakuna matata, he taught me. Tom and Jerry zindabad. This was indeed a whole new world.

*~Board Games
Cluedo, Mad what me worry?, Guess who, Monopoly, the game of life, Ludo, snakes and ladders, Scotland Yard, Battleship. Ahh...fond, oh so fond memories.

*~Nickelodeon
Clarissa Explained it all. There was all that. I figured it out! Pete and Pete! Inside out boy! Allen strange. Don't get me started on this. I can write a whole post on nickelodeon.

~*Tinkle, Chandamamma, And amar chitra katha..and batman!
So my indian mythology study came from these books. Whee!! NO regrets. They made virtually every train journey fun and my folks were kept happy. Batman ended up being the only comic book I could ever get my hands on and read (after that enid blyton and calvin and hobbes came along and I forgot all about him)

~*Judy Blume
Blubber was my first. There was no turning back. Are you there, god? It's me margaret!

~*The Baby-sitters' Club.
Hmm, this is turning into a book-list. Oh well!

~*Roald Dahl
Yeah, long before johnny depp there was imagination! Charlie and the chocolate factory made me a hungry little kid. His other stuff satisfied a whole lot of the hunger.

~*Ruskin Bond
Never discount country life. I learnt that from his books. And from heidi.

~*Red letter, chocolate box, stapoo, hide and seek, dark room, doctor help, tag, chain-cut, Under the apple tree, kabadi, dog in the bone, kho-kho
God bless indian street kid games.

~*Shopping in Kidskemp
If you grew up in Bangalore, you know what I'm talking about. At one point of time, cubbon park and kidskemp were the coolest places to hang.

~* ice lolly and kismi bar and the walls ice-cream cart and melody-hai-chocolaty and Hajmola candy and cotton candy and!

~* Cadbury's chocolate, when It first came out!

Kuch Khaas hai Hum Sabhi mein
Kuch Baat hai Hum sabhi mein...
Khaas hai..
Baat hai..
Kya swaad hai...
Zindagi mein...

~*Doodh hai must in every season,
Piyo doodh for healthy reason
Rahoge phir fit and fine
Jiyoge past Ninety-nine
Doodh Doodh Doodh Doodh Doodh
Wonderful Doodh!

~*
Open sesame and Young World
(yup. I read newspapers for my age without being forced to!)

~*Play-doh or Moulding clay
My best clay model ever, was actually a car. (How radical!)

~* Crayola
So many colours that I didn't know what to colour with them. So I did what I thought was best..used the wall as my canvas!

~* Holi with Pichkari
Back then, using a pichkari was the shit!

~* Fitness shoes by bata
I was obsessed with them. Bright blue, Pink and Black with Pink "fitness" wording!

~* Diwali
My first atom bomb was like graduation from the chakras and flowerpots. I actually squealed!:)

~* Swimming lessons
Terror gave way to thrill when I discovered that being able to swim meant being allowed on the giant pool water slide!

~* Bicycles!
The BSA champ was my first bike. I actually even won a bike race on it! (Okay, so there were only three participants that day, but still!)

~* Fusen chewing gum, rola cola, orange bar, gola and those ciggy-mints.
Ahhh..sinful.

~* those hand clapping games
"Who stole the cookies from the cookie jar?!"
"Under the apple tree, my mother told me"
"orange juice and lemon, sold for a penny!"

The list never ends, but I've gotta run!
Being a kid is fun!

What can you think of, to add to the list?

Rebels who can't state their cause

Dear Rebels,

Tsk, Tsk.
What ever happened to you guys? I know being a rebel comes with that razor-sharp, mystic, daring status. I know you have some cause. You're humans, after all. But what's flown way past the pathetic line, is the fact that you go through the painstaking (and pain CAUSING, mind you) trouble of bombing two Indian cities in two days, but you don't state your cause.

Isn't it sad then? Innocent people died, and for nothing. You continue killing innocent people. No one knows how to stop this bloody bullshit, simply because they don't know what you want. You won't state a thing, you'll simply confuse and create conflict everywhere, without getting anything you want. Hmmph. Talk about a lose-lose situation!

You expect people to figure out what you want and set it right? I Hate to disappoint you guys, but this isn't Scotland Yard. People aren't on your case, figuring out every detail. They can only speculate.

If you want something, learn how to ask for it. By bombing, you're only making yourselves, your people, and worst of all..rebels everywhere look like the underdogs who just don't know what they're doing, and yet pathetic enough to continue doing it.
My heart goes out to the people and their families affected by this childish nonsense.
Statistics may show other things, but India has half her population in the age bracket 1-5. In that mental age bracket.
For that matter, that whole world does.

Good luck, everyone. We all need it.

Signed,
Incredibly Lucky so far, in India.

The Baby got back

It's been a while since I blogged, so I'm taking the liberty of welcoming myself back with this filler-style post. I actually went on a lil' vacation, a much needed, very relaxing, very different sort of vacation, and my brain is thanking me for it. It says, 'ah, thank you, you wretched woman, for finally letting me be in a place where I don't have to worry every milli second'.
Yes, it's true. I am a worry wart. One of the worst you'll ever meet.

Don't you just love travel? I do. It gives you so much...substance. Not necessarily only to your personality, but also to your thoughts, your blogs, heck..even your text messages. Don't roll your eyes, it is true. I've noticed a dramatic change in people after a trip they've taken. The way they speak, think, dress.
Magical.
So, I actually did learn a lot, think a lot, and you know what this blog has done to me? At several points, I actually went...'hmm, a blog post on this would be fun to write'! Gag moi. I hope I'm not becoming one of those people who associate everything with their paper. That's a one way ticket to belonging in the not-in-the-moment-ever category.

So, here we go...the top five things I like about travelling:

1. different food in different places.
*drifting away..mmmmm*
2. pictures that make you smile years (or even days) from then.
3. shopping for souvenirs and the ecstacy that comes with a bargain buy (and most places are cheaper than bangalore)- a steal is unparalleled joy!
4. stealing shampoo and toothbrushes that I'm never going to use, and my friends probably might when they stay over and forget their toothbrushes cause lets face it, no one likes mustard-mouth!
5. encounters with interesting, possibly cute people. *wink* A definite plus if they play a new, interesting travel game with me.

The top five things I don't like about travelling:
1. Packing
2. Unpacking
3. Having to get up at alien hours
4. Creepy Crawlies (esp if you're doing the whole "vacation in the wild, untamed world" sorta thing, or in public places)
5. Oily-sticky face or frizzy icky hair situation (in other words, weather woes)

Other than that, travel is a ball!

WHY did I make this seemingly obvious list, you ask? I felt like it.

Also, I got the nintendo wii!! Months of wait and it is all so worth it.
Hopefully I will get the second remote soon and seventh sem will be so peachy:)
Highly recommended for a perk-me-up for anyone in vtu! (or otherwise)

Who stole the cookies from the cookie jar?
Who me?
Yes, you.
Couldn't be!
Then who?

Being a kid was such fun.

Like it or hate it, you just can't ignore it!

Blogging is awesome.

You wanna know why? Because even people who don't blog, eventually want to! Even if it is a teeny, tiny little sentence. Such is the allure of blogging.

Bah, who am I kidding?

Scenario ONE: Sutta was extremely jobless at home, and happily used my blogging ID (with my permission) and typed the following:

ja ma pel claude.

bloo fluu cloo dup!

i have a job!

Scenario TWO: Sujju(my sis) happened to see this post, and absolutely lost it when she saw the spelling. "Don't you dare insult a french student like this", she said, when I protested saying "But it seems correct". Hence, the revised version of sutta's genius post, with sujju's intelligence functioning as editor, of course:

je m'appelle rammy

blee fluu bluuu bleee!

I have a job and am hopefully gonna get a better one!

Ah, see?
Others must Blog too. It won't be long before blogging becomes as addictive and important to everybody.

come on everybody, commence!

I have a job!!!

me and her

The monstrosity that is Me
I try and try to escape her
I don't try hard enough, it seems
I try harder only in my dreams

I wake up to her, belong to her
and she revels in that closed bridge
and I try to change her, I hold her hand
She won't comply with anything I'd planned

I understand her better than anyone else
But she will never understand me
She wants to emulate all these people around

I'm screaming for her to do it, she doesn't hear a sound

She smiles and pretends. it's always been this way
I can't stop her, she's always so tense
I know what makes her happy; I know how to get her there
But complacency and her have always had a love affair

and then she feels that certain way about her life

and I can't watch. I can't be with her, when she does.
She falls back on cousins, named sympathy and pity.
Its a shame she doesn't make the most of her self- sharp and witty.

While she looks on, and on, at all those straight lines and lights
wishing she was part of it. Wishing she was proud of it all
I'm the one that waits for her back in her pillow every night
I'm the reason she doesn't give up without a fight

But she says all that, and she forgets, again.
Her memory blinds her to her thoughts that have been.
No one can help her but her, no one at all
And yet I catch her. I can't just let her fall

Maybe its the truth- she can't stand up for her own self
Maybe she wants to, but everyone needs a little help
Maybe I'm giving her that, and maybe its not mine she wants
maybe I'm every memory that scares her, disarms her, haunts.

My syndrome

I am back.

Back for good.

But not for long.

Hmm, that didn't sound right.

But it is the truth.
~me.

What do those confusing lines mean? What does this nonsense amount to, you ask? Ask, and you shall be answered. Do not, and do not read further.
Its that simple.

I shall try to explain better with a picture. (any NPS jokes at this point are NOT welcome.) Basically, my life is now like this.

See, its the paradox that comes with this cup that you see. I go from the deep, turbulent waters into the tube thinking..oh, this I can handle. This isn't that bad. I'll reach land eventually.

But where do I land up? In deep shit, once again.
Bingo. Bravo.
I couldn't have explained this better.

So while VTU exam horror (code: War six) is over, (down the tube, now) I'm heading towards what not, and hence...I'm only going back into the cup of deep torture (oh how I wish It was a pleasant cuppa, instead!)

All you need is P.O.S.I.T.I.V.I.T.Y, they say.

That's the only thing I need to get started.

Now, why don't we get that in pill form?

Happy holidays, everyone! May the jobs come flying, to us all.
And may they flap hard enough to carry those massive pay packets.
